Dr. Behnke grew up in New Jersey and studied animal science at Rutgers University prior to pursuing a DVM degree at the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine. After her DVM, Dr. Behnke completed a residency training program in Laboratory Animal Medicine at the University of Florida's Health Science Center, and became board certified by the American College of Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Behnke spent an additional 5 years at UF as a clinical laboratory animal veterinarian and residency mentor. Dr. Behnke moved to Kansas State University and held positions in the research compliance office and Comparative Medicine Group before accepting her current role as the Attending Veterinarian at the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) in Manhattan, Kansas.
